The Role

We are looking for a strong senior manager with a practice background, which includes audit and compliance experience. You will work closely alongside another senior manager to manage the entire London portfolio of clients and a team of ten staff in audit, compliance and management accounts roles.

As well as managing a portfolio of compliance clients and your team, the role will also involve special advisory work. This will include providing interim FC/FD services to new clients, to assist with their companies journey and growth, using the expertise from our wider group services where necessary.

The successful applicant will have the autonomy to shape their own career within a tight-knit, non-traditional, start-up type environment, but with the support and guidance of the wider High Growth and Compliance teams of a top 50 firm.

You will relish the opportunity to deliver a world class service to a varied portfolio of clients including high profile/household name sportspeople, musicians and actors as well as clients from hospitality, fashion and creative industries. You will enjoy acting as a mentor and coach to a small, dedicated team of trainees, semi-seniors and newly qualified staff.

Role Objectives

Role Objectives

  • Oversee the management and development of an accounts team through effective supervision and training to help you deliver an exceptional service to a portfolio of key clients
  • Manage a portfolio of up to 150 clients
  • Assist with business development and bringing in new clients to the London office
  • Managing all work in progress and billing for your clients ensuring monthly targets are met
  • Managing team, appraisals etc, staff feedback
  • Review all year end and management accounts files and working papers completed by your team and ensure review points are clearly fed back
  • Organise and lead weekly team meetings to discuss client deadlines, workload/planner and billing targets
  • Attend client meetings, building excellent working relationships and actively highlighting any cross-selling opportunities for the wider Sedulo group
  • Be actively involved in one-off advisory work which can involve:
    • Identifying opportunities or threats for a client and assisting with taking advantage or mitigating them
    • Analysing and discussing with a client, management accounts, key performance indicators and detailed cash flows and assist with developing a strategic plan to take them through their growth or exit path
    • Oversee and support the creation of monthly reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts on a timely basis
    • Reviewing and developing an internal finance function for a client and identify and implement new processes where necessary
  • Keep up to date with latest legislation and feedback across the group when necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

  • Qualified in either ACCA, ACA or CIMA or be QBE with substantial experience within a practice environment where main duties have related to statutory year end accounts
  • Robust commercial awareness to provide value
  • Experience of preparing and reviewing complex financial reporting packs
  • Up to date experience of accounting and reporting software, including app stacks
  • A genuine interest in a highly client focused role and willingness to make a positive contribution
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • A strong desire to coach and develop team members
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work and the ability to work under pressure
