First things first – how do you take your coffee?

What has been your highlight from the past 10 years?


I have personally enjoyed seeing the business and teams develop. We started with a small group of us doing all services such as bookkeeping, payroll, accounts prep. Now we work across three cities and have specialised wealth, sports and mortgages teams that provide even more support to our clients.

What has been the biggest challenge you have overcome?


We have had a lot of challenges over the 10 years, some bigger than others. One that sticks with me is one of our first corporate finance transactions where we were asked to review a business and build a report on if the buyer should purchase the business! Seems a simple enough task but when we advised them not to buy it, it seemed like a big decision as we knew the buyer wanted the business. The business subsequently got into difficulty and because of our honesty and integrity on the job, we still work closely today with the guys who wanted to buy the business.

What do you think has been the key to making Sedulo a success?


I think the drive and determination of the team has made the business what it is today. Knowing that as we reached each target we had another, more ambitious, goal to hit next kept us really motivated.

Where do you see the company going over the next 10 years?


With the drive and determination of the new management team, I can see the business continuing to develop and opening up overseas practices in line with Pauls dreams. I’m sure we will end up with offices in LA for example and the target of 250 staff doesn’t seem such a hard task since we were originally 4.
