In our Client Corner this month is The Jason Roberts Foundation, a charity working to support young people, celebrate diversity and promote respect across the UK and Grenada.
The Jason Roberts Foundation was set up in 2007 by former professional footballer, Jason Roberts. During a career which saw Jason appear in all divisions from the Conference to the Premier League, as well as representing Grenada on the national stage, the Jason Roberts Foundation was set up as a means to put something back into the community. The Foundation focuses on football based social inclusion projects that offer playing opportunities to young people with little chance of accessing coaching or opportunities to progress as players.
Last month, the Jason Robert Foundation supported Grenada in the Homeless World Cup – a unique, pioneering social movement which uses football to inspire homeless people to change their own lives. Grenada, although newcomers to the Homeless World Cup, displayed a combination of skill and determination against Switzerland in their first ever game, managing to record a 6-2 victory.
More details on the match can be found on the official Homeless World Cup website, here.
Otis Roberts, CEO of the Jason Roberts Foundation, said of the tournament:
“We at the the JRF are delighted to be able to support these young men in what was a fantastic tournament and experience after 6 months of hard work .The players and coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for getting to the final and being crowned best newcomer team in Amsterdam. The JRF are committed to helping the players with education personal development and employment opportunities upon their return to the island.”
From everyone in our office, well done to the Jason Roberts Foundation and well done to the Grenada Homeless World Cup team!
