From being founded on a credit card to our current position of 180 team members across four cities in the UK, this is the story about how we applied many of our services to ourselves to becoming one of the fastest-growing finance firms in the UK.

Starting up in Manchester

  • 01/05/2009

    The birth of a concept.

    With a team of three - Paul Cheetham-Karcz, Lee Jones and Elaine Cheetham-Karcz - we opened our first office in Barton Arcade, providing Manchester's entrepreneurs with industry-type, hands-on financial expertise.

  • Let's talk about tax.

    Dedicated tax professionals join our rapidly expanding team, giving businesses and individuals access to highly bespoke tax planning expertise, tools and advice.

    Moving our growing team to Deansgate Locks.

    Our expanding team move to a new home on Deansgate Locks.

  • 13/10/2011

    Sedulo Corporate Finance opens.

    Benn Longshaw joins our team, adding a dedicated Corporate Finance offering to our repertoire.

  • 09/01/2012

    A marketing department joins our mix.

    We install a marketing department into our mix, working on both our brand and that of some of our clients.

    The Group expands into wealth management.

    Sedulo Wealth Management joins the Sedulo group, giving our client-base access to workable financial plans, advice on pensions and more.

Moving to the Regency Club

    We move our Manchester office to our new home, the Regency Club.

    We moved into a new purpose-built Manchester home, The Regency Club, featuring multiple themed meeting spaces, events capacity, a fully operating complimentary bar and reggae rooftop terrace.

    The launch of Sedulo Funding Solutions.

    Leyton Jeffs joins the group as Sedulo Funding Solutions launches, providing business owners with access to alternative methods of funding.

  • Growth & progress receives recognition through awards.

    A solid year of growth is capped off with a number of personal and corporate award wins for our business, departments, team and more.

    A new People & Culture department provides HR support for our growing team.

    We install a dedicated HR function within our walls, ensuring our team are well-looked after and trained throughout their careers.

Opening in Leeds

    Sedulo complete acquisition of historic Leeds-based accountancy firm, Bartfields.

    The acquisition of Bartfields in 2018 saw us take our concept to a new city in the UK - Leeds. The Bartfields brand had been established since 1927, so as well as a new city the acquisition also saw a rich history join our team.

    Forensic Accounting expertise joins the Sedulo Group.

    As part of the acquisition of Bartfields, our suite of accounting services expanded as Bartfields Forensic Accountants joined our group, bringing with them a vast experience of providing assistance on criminal, civil and commercial issues.

    Our Leeds-based home, the Ambler Club, opens.

    The acquisition of the Leeds-based Bartfields also saw the relocation of their team, plus new recruits, to the iconic St. Paul's House in Leeds city centre. Our Leeds home, the Ambler Club, overlooks the green Park Square area and boasts numerous themed meeting rooms including the chocolate-filled Cadbury's Suite and Fred Perry Suite complete with table tennis.

Opening in London

    Sedulo open London office in Coppergate House.

    Our expansion across the UK continued with London becoming our next city as we found a home in Spitalfields, straddling the city and Shoreditch, headed up by Cathryn Wright to cater to an ever-growing client base of creative and media professionals.

    Skiddle bring secret festival to Sedulo.

    We teamed up with Preston-based ticket outlet and events guide, Skiddle, and award-winning media production company, Tunafish Media, as we secretly transformed our office overnight to swap the desks for a dancefloor as we surprised 100 staff with a full day of festival, including mud.

    Sedulo Corporate Finance secure £6.4m investment for international web hosting company, Miss Group.

    The Sedulo Corporate Finance team continued to open international doors for web hosting company, Miss Group, as they secure an investment of £6.4m from Business Growth Fund, BGF.

    Sedulo Corporate Finance complete MBO for £34m turnover waste management group.

    Sedulo Corporate Finance assisted in an MBO for Roydon group PLC, seeing the existing management shareholders take full ownership of the business and the founding shareholders depart to pursue new goals.

    Sedulo Corporate Finance lead the sale of the iconic, Manchester-based Black Dog Ballroom bar group.

    The Sedulo Corporate Finance team completed a sale on behalf of the Manchester-based Black Dog Ballroom bar group, allowing the chain to develop further under a new venture.

    Property expert joins to launch new Mortgage service.

    Peter Clarkson joined us to launch Sedulo Mortgages, a new offering providing people from all financial backgrounds with the best possible guidance to on mortgages and remortgages.

Celebrating 10yrs in business

    The launch of the Taking Care of Business book.

    Building a business is not for the faint-hearted and can be a lonely mission fraught with risks and scary moments. With that in-mind, our founding partner, Paul Cheetham-Karcz, penned the Taking Care of Business book, giving insight into the mindset and coping mechanisms required to get to the top, whilst delivering a step-by-step blueprint of how to start up and grow as an entrepreneur.

    Sedulo celebrate 10-year anniversary with star-studded festival across the North.

    We're celebrated our 10th birthday with Sedulofest - a 2-day festival, across 2 cities in 2 days. The event celebrated 10 years of success with over 330 clients and staff that have supported the company along the way. The celebration provided an all-star music line up including ex Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, ex Another Level singer Dane Bowers, and Ben Ofoedu of Phats and Small.

    Having been a Xero partner for a number of years, we were proud to be recognised as a certified Xero Platinum Partner, the high number of clients that we have helped transition from traditional accounting methods to Xero.

    Sedulo awarded highest rank in ACCA employer scheme.

    We were approved as a Platinum ACCA Employer, granted after demonstrating several high-level training and development opportunities that are available within the business.

    2019 Sedulo Christmas Toy Appeal provides over 3,000 presents for 254 children.

    254 underprivileged children across the UK received a sack full of presents on Christmas Day thanks to the Elves from our annual Christmas Toy Appeal.

    Over 3,000 gifts have been bought, wrapped and delivered with Sedulo teaming up with local charities and councils to help bring smiles to children's faces on Christmas morning.

Sedulo opens in Liverpool

    Sedulo Corporate Finance lead £7.5m investment into Roxy Ball Room.

    The activity bar operator, Roxy Ball Room, whose venues offer a range of facilities including pool tables, ping-pong, bowling, shuffleboard, mini-golf, arcade gaming and karaoke, is set to expand after securing a £7.5m investment - a deal led by the Sedulo Corporate Finance team
