The brutal world of boxing may not seem the place for fashion statements, but the creative mastermind, Sophie Whittam, is bringing a little extra luxury to the sport with bespoke boxing attire brand, Fight Label.

The brand creates custom-made garments which have been sported and sought after by some of the world’s most successful fighters, including Floyd Mayweather, Andre Berto, Anthony Joshua and many more.

Speaking on the Empowered Women panel at Sedulo’s Leeds-based Ambler Club, Sophie commented:

“We act for the top 1% of fighters in the world. When you are creating products for such elite clientele, it’s quality over everything. I will not compromise”

An opportunity with Amir‘King’ Khan provided the fashion designer with her big break when he debuted her first and most expensive design to date.

The famous 24-carat gold shorts showcased in Khan’s defeat against Devon Alexander in Vegas, 2015, and from then, the Fight Label name exploded into the boxing scene as the creator of the world’s most expensive boxing shorts.

“Instantly after that match, my phone was ringing off the hook. Interview after interview. And that was me born into boxing, out of nowhere. It went from zero to a hundred really quick.”

Continuing on the wave of success, Sophie, has made a name for herself as the go-to-girl for bespoke, luxury designs, with her work also finding it’s way outside of the squared circle with US stars such as Bruno Mars and Michael B. Jordan.

Blockbuster hits, Creed and Creed 2, promoted Sophie’s talent to another level as she designed and created the movie wardrobe, viewed by millions of boxing and film fans all over the globe.

Plans to continue this success are well underway as Sophie is set to increase presence in the US and beyond, with an athletic leisure collection.

The ready-to-wear pieces will provide high-profile professionals with one-off garments to wear out of the ring. It’s safe to say that Sophie is fighting stereotypes as she punches her way to the top and, though not a competitor in the ring, she is certainly packing a punch as she paves the way for women in the sport.
